It is generally not recommended to cut the whiskers on a dog, as this can cause discomfort and possible injury. The whiskers are used for navigation and balance, which could be compromised if they're removed. Additionally, cutting the whiskers maycause them to lose their sense of smell and become even more susceptible to infections.

Some dog owners believe that their dog should be groomed every week, while others think that a monthly grooming is sufficient. Yes, there are "professional" groomers out there who will tell you to shave your Akita. Shaving/clipping makes Akitas more susceptible to skin allergies, sun burn and parasite infestation. The treatments for these problems can then lead to more serious conditions. The Akita “color-coat” also known as the top coat works as the reflective barrier. My professional opinion, never shave an Akita.
